The statute requires the recorder to accept, index, and preserve all instruments affecting real property in the county. The office is located at the Noble County Courthouse in Albion and can be reached by phone at (260) 636-2672. Standard courthouse hours apply Monday through Friday. Every deed, mortgage, lien, easement, or release that affects land in Noble County passes through the recorder's office to become part of the official public record.
The Noble County Recorder's official website provides an overview of the office's services, hours, and contact information. The site also links to the downloads and forms page, where you can find templates and instructions for common recording transactions. The office handles Assumed Business Name registrations in addition to standard real property instruments.
When a document is recorded, it receives an instrument number, a date-and-time stamp, and is scanned into the index system before the original is returned to the submitter. You use the instrument number to retrieve the document in the future. Staff can help with name and instrument number lookups but do not perform title searches or provide legal opinions.
