The Marion County Recording Process

Marion County follows Indiana's standard three-step deed recording process. A deed or other property transfer document must first be stamped by the Assessor's Office in Room 1360 of the City-County Building before it can be recorded. After the Assessor stamps it, the deed goes to the Auditor's Office for transfer processing. Only then does it reach the Recorder's Office for recording. All documents submitted in Marion County must follow Indiana's statewide recording requirements under IC 32-21-2. Names must be typed or printed under each signature.
